About the role

Virgin StartUp exists to support founders who are looking to start, fund or scale an early-stage business in the UK and we run a number of programs that help founders do just that.

The founders that we have funded through our Start Up Loans program or those that have taken part in one of our Scale Up programs, all form part of our growing community in the UK. As too, do the volunteer mentors that have signed up to provide mentoring support to our community up and down the country.

Role Summary

The Community team manages an online platform, through which we support founders to learn, share, connect and grow. The team are responsible for hosting events and deep dive workshops, creating and sharing opportunities for founders to thrive, delivering ‘partner content’ and facilitating interactions between founders and mentors.

The role of the Community Engagement Manager is to support on the content and engagement strategies to increase and maintain a flourishing community – both of founders and mentors.

The Community Engagement Manager will support the Community Lead in Key Responsibilities in growing and maintaining the Community platform including:

  • Monitoring and answering questions on the main feed and within all peer-to-peer groups.
  • Engaging with founder’s and mentor’s posts on the platform Role Profile
  • Researching key topics within the startup ecosystem to spark discussions on the main feed and peer-to-peer groups.
  • Monitoring the community mailbox and answering all outstanding emails about the platform and functionality.
  • Setting aside time for calls with founders to help them navigate the platform if requested.
  • Monitoring the platform to ensure founders and mentors adhere to the behaviors stated in the community guidelines.
  • Removing founder’s or mentor’s profiles from the system if they do not adhere to behaviors and updating records with relevant information.
  • On an ongoing basis, keeping features updated and refreshed, ensuring all links, posts and resources are up to date and checking for any mistakes on the platform.
  • This list is not an exhaustive list and there may be new areas to engage and support on as we build out new features.

ABOUT THE PERSON

  • Highly organised, with the ability to work across multiple projects simultaneously.
  • High degree of motivation as well as being able to quickly master new challenges.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Forms. Transferable Skills
  • Proficiency in Asana, Canva, Mailchimp, Salesforce and Mighty Networks.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with members of the Virgin StartUp team, to support programme and business requirements.
  • Ability to act as an ambassador for the Virgin brand and live our values, when representing the company, both inside and outside of the organisation.
  • Flexibility to assume other area’s assignments in the future, as the team refines its processes.
  • Experience working in a Community or Marketing role – ideally Experience working with entrepreneurs and small business owners. Role Profile
