Location:Aldershot, Bulford, Tidworth (3 roles)

Reports to:Authority Stores Manager

Key Purpose of the Role:

• To assist the authority stores manager in accounting for and maintaining all materiel Garrison authority store on behalf of the MoD in conjunction with their current regular JSPs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Working safely, consider the safety of others and work within the guidelines of ADSL policies and procedures.

Undertake routine checks as required to ensure compliance with QHSE regulations any such checks and reporting anything considered to constitute a risk. This includes accidents, near misses and general defects resulting in a risk to employees. Ensure and Incidents are reported to the Helpdesk.

To ensure that all relevant Risk Assessments are kept up to date and that you u Risk Assessments that have been put in place

  • Carry out when required the issuing, receipting, demanding and back loading of materiel held on account within the authority store.

  • Collection and delivery of stores to / from units/ depots/ depts/ civilian agencies when required.

  • To have an understanding of the fault reporting process for certain types of equipment.

  • To have a basic understanding of the Authority’s current JSP’s.

  • When applicable, to carry out monthly inspections and maintain a record.

  • Assist in providing and maintaining an audit trail for all Authority’s inspections.

  • Carry out stock checks in line with the cyclic stock checking programme or as directed by the authority stores manager.

  • Assist other Storekeepers as and when required, during periods of sickness or holidays.

  • Ensure the stores are kept tidy and where reasonably possible free from hazards.

  • Undertake other duties as required by the authority stores manager in order to ensure the efficient functioning of the stores.

  • To ensure that all materiel held within the store is kept secured and in a clean and serviceable condition.

  • To ensure the general area both inside and outside is kept clean and tidy.

  • Assist with the maintenance of the authority stores pool vehicle, ensuring it is kept clean, tidy and roadworthy at all times, ensuring all documents are kept up to date.


  • NVQ2 Distribution, Storekeeping and Warehouse Operations or equivalent.

  • All Arms Storeman Course

  • MA qualification on MJDI


  • Military Storekeeper experience.

  • Forklift Operators Licence.

  • UAA qualification on MJDI


    • A good understanding of MOD accounting systems, currently MJDI and JAMES

    • A clean driving licence Desirable:

    • Forklift operator’s licence

    • Basic understanding of the military rank structure •

    • Excellent customer service and communication skills

    • A good team player able to prioritise their own work with the ability to support other team members when required

    • Able to meet /exceed tight deadlines

    • Hard working and flexible

    • A good understanding of all MS packages
