Installation Design Authority (IDA)
About the role:
You will be responsible for the technical oversight, validation, and approval of installation designs related to infrastructure and systems across the Royal Navy estate.
This role involves leading the design process from concept through to implementation, ensuring all designs meet the necessary standards, regulations, and operational needs of the Royal Navy.
You will act as the primary authority on all design decisions and ensure that installation projects are delivered on time, to specification, and in a compliant manner.
This role requires close collaboration with engineering teams, contractors, and Royal Navy stakeholders to ensure that designs are fit for purpose, cost-effective, and sustainable over the lifecycle of the installation.
Must have:
- Experience with the ECR process in the MoD.
- Track record in leading the design and installation of complex systems, ideally within defence or naval infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of infrastructure design, including electrical, mechanical, and telecommunications systems.
- Familiarity with design and installation standards relevant to defence and naval environments, including JSP standards and MoD specifications.
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and schematics. Key responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of installation projects, ensuring technical accuracy and compliance with industry standards and Royal Navy requirements.
- Approve and sign off on all installation designs, ensuring they align with the operational needs and safety standards of the Royal Navy.
- Provide technical oversight throughout the lifecycle of installation projects, from initial concept to final implementation.
- Ensure that all installation designs comply with relevant UK and MoD regulations, including health and safety, environmental, and engineering standards.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of engineering and regulatory standards to ensure all designs are compliant with the latest guidelines.
