QinetiQ Work Placement Opportunity
Do you have experience in data, evaluation, or building processes? Want to undertake a paid work placement with one of the UK’s largest Defence and Security firms?
At QinetiQ, we are proud to support UK national security and champion our Armed Forces community. Through our partnership with Recruit for Spouses (RfS), we are excited to offer two part time work placements, running for 10 weeks, starting this October.
Across your work placement, you will:
- Support the launch of our new reporting tool – considering how the data is best to be stored, used and reported;
- Build guidance and processes for teams to ensure reporting standards are met;
- Help develop our data analysis processes and evaluate the success of programmes;
- Support teams bidding to ensure work is targeted and data driven;
- Ensure all activities are recorded through our internal data platforms.
We are looking for candidates with:
- Enthusiasm, positivity, and who are keen to roll up their sleeves and get stuck in;
- An eye for detail, and a logical thinker;
- Technical confidence, and willingness to learn new tools;
- Confidence in presenting to and communicating with, a wide range of individuals and communities;
- The opportunity to support with developing bidding resources;
- Experience of working in the bidding/business winning space would be beneficial.

- Access a wide range of training courses to help you develop your soft and technical skills whilst in the role.
How does it work?
Hours – the work placement comprises 21 hours per week, but these can be worked in a manner that meets the successful candidates needs. For example it could be working 3 days a week, or working between school hours for 5 days a week for childcare/caring responsibilities.
Location– this placement can be completed in a virtual, hybrid, or in-person manner. If the successful candidate is located close to a QinetiQ office, we will provide them access to a desk. If not, the candidate must have a suitable home environment to work effectively in.
Travel– occasional travel to events/sites may be available as part of the placement, but this will be agreed with the candidate & not mandatory.
Technology– a work laptop will be provided to the candidate for the duration of the placement.
Clearance– the successful candidate will be required to achieve BPSS

This placement has been developed for flexibility to meet the needs of military spouses, if you are interested but have half term / a doctor’s appointments / a holiday already scheduled for the period – that’s not a problem. We will work with the successful candidate to make sure that the placement accommodates any childcare, caring, study, or other commitments that you may also have.
